training review for the 15th Sept 2006
Yesterday's training was quite disorganised because of the clash with the parent teacher meeting. Before the training started i had a small discussion on some minor issues with the newly promoted senior specs. Colours started at 15oohrs and i was told that the duty officer for the day was Miss Toh Ling Ling, however she was nowhere to be seen. We sent a spec to go look for her but she was seeing a parent. Thus I conducted the Colours. The training was supposed to start off with total defence lecture but LTA Goh was not free? So we started off with drills for the part As and Bs. Due to the wet weather we carried out the drills under shelter. The part As were doing stationary drill and they jus started off with marching on the spot. Progress was quite ok. The part Bs were revising their marching and learning the 'keblakan-pu-sing' and 'maju' command on the march. Progress was also quite satisfactory. Cadets whom jus passed out from SSC informed us on the new changes on the do's and dont's during drill. This was a little bit ironic as we used to do that when we were part As and Bs. Also, it was what we taught them when we were specs. Next was PT. This part was the most disorganised. The part As did not have pt kit so did in no.4. While the part Bs did it in pt kit. The pt session was conducted by evan kong. This was because the sea com team which included the PTIs had a meeting with LTA Goh. Another group was also missing. Thus the PT session consisted of at the most 20-25 cadets? I was repeatingly asking the specs on where are the rest of the cadets..but all they could tell me was answers like ' Sir, i dont know' and ' Sir, one group is there, another is there' when i had totally no idea where is the 'there'. Anyway after the PT was supposed to be a half hour games session. But there wasn't full strength so evan played the 'folding the smart 4' game with them. I was not for it but till i realised that they really needed a long time to fold their smart 4. Even so, they folded like they are MSG? Not up to standard. So i allowed the 'exercise' to carry on. 1800hrs was the scheduled dismissal time. Miss Toh was here this time. However, the CSM and ronald was nowhere to be found. The next highiest appointment holder was the part C ASM. He was also blur blur and was like waiting for the CSM to appear? and Miss Toh was like there waiting and they were still giving out the NCC donation cards. I was like hurrying the part C ASM to take over and asking the rest of the platoon sergeants to cut what they are doing and to get the dismissal parade over first. All this took 5 mins for them to settle down and the part C ASM had no idea of the company strength or of any sort. So i handed him my copy of the attendance list to him so that he could conduct the parade. The ASM's drill when reporting was not up to standard even after attending SSC. i dont know why and i have spoken to him. He is also aware of his mistake. This could be due to inexperience. And sorry. i know i am supposed to conduct the AAR but i was in a rush yesterday and had no time. I jus had a few words with the part C ASM on the proposal for the company camp. ( he was not even aware of this camp). the deadline i set them is the end of sept latest. I was also told that there would be a orienteering excersise for the company at Pasir Ris Park on the 16th. Which is today. ronald...volunteered? to go down. AND RONALD WHEN U SEE THIS PLEASE DO THE REVIEW FOR THE ORIENTEERING EXERCISE. Thank you. Thats all for now.
