part a camp 2006

the part a camp this year started out abit disastrous because of a communication breakdown between the S3 and the officers. it started 1 hour earlier then the stated time. the S3 den quickly implemented activities like bag checks for contraband items so as to 'store' for time and make the camp look professional. the camp was supposed to be a spec runn-ed camp but they kept coming to the clts for help in the beginning and some could not even make simple decisions. this applies to not only the part c helpers but also the part d. afterwhich the the camp commenced as per normal but there was a delay in the period before dinner, which was field cooking because the S4 found out that he did not have enough solid fuel and went to army market to buy. when he got back, they started their field cooking and then washed up. the washing up was very slow mainly because of 3 reasons. firstly, the st. jons used the toilets to wash up their own mess tins before us and the choked up the toilet. secondly is that the part a are new and they didi not noe exactly wad to do and lastly is because they terribly lacked discipline.as no specs or part c were there wif them as they went to take their dinner, i took over for that period of time and punished them. i ate into their movie time as they did not deserve the movie at all. by the time i released them, they only left 40 mins of their movie time which was up to 2055hrs. afteewhich they were supposed to have their war game. but the CSM and S3 abandoned the war game and extended their movie time to 2200hrs because the felt that the movie would meet their objective of the camp rather then the war game. after 2200hrs, the part a were to wash up and sleep and at the end of day 1, the clts were very displeased with the specs until SCLT Jian Cheng came and had a AAR and we worked out a plan to make day 2 more successful. day 2 started at 0400hrs when we woke the part a up ann everything carried on accordingly as planned. thge last part of the camp was supposed to have pt the sir terence teo's way, but their performance before that was somewhat commendable so we let them play games during that time. it was supposed to end at 1730hrs but miss toh came down earlier so we ended the camp. the clts then conducted a camp debrief and we ended the camp. point to note is that as soon as we announced that the camp was over, their discipline dropped ridiculously. so we have to work on that next trg. as for the log branch, the room was super very messy and unkempt. i wanted to get the log branch to clean up the place before they leave but miss toh was like in a hurry to leave and i dunnoe why she wanted the key and she asked us to clear the room and she left with the key, as such we left the log room messy and filthy and i told them that we have no choice but to leave it till next trg. **i thought that the s4 was supposed to have the key.

trg review for the 3rd of march

basically.. today trg went quite smoothly except for the ropework lecture cos of alot of delay. the specialists could not get the classroom on time. other than that..there was no problem. only for dismissal, 1SG Tommy Tham brought 2 of his understudies, CPL I-Zack and CPL Darren Koh for a talk and did not attend dismissal.LTA Goh was very angry and scolded them and the CLTs.everything was settled in the end. the BIG prob was after the trg becaus of the part C appointments. they were questioning the CLTs on our decisions.and personally..i was very unhappy with them and so we more or less want to wash our hands off the appointment issue and let the specs handle it. it was quite a heated argument and we found that if we pleae the specs, some part c and clt will be unhappy.if we please the clt and some part c, the specs will be unhappy. so the best way is not to intervene. for greater details, pls contact me or clt jason.
