ACHTUNG !!! CLTs

TRAINING REVIEW FOR 20th of OCTOBER 2006

sorry for the last review. the training for 20th was basically a very very short training, to brush up on their their seamenship knowledge.

DO: toh ling ling
(i dunno the strength)

training start at 2pm and ended at 4pm
aar ended at 6pm

TRAINING REVIEW:

i felt that 2day's training was a waste of time.
1: turn up rate of cadets was very low
2:lecture was not well prepared by specs(they were basically reading out from the handbook)
3: training was too short(cut down due to haze)

nevertheless, we had a productive chat with MDM goh, as well as an effective AAR with the cadets. Issue discussed are as follows:

with MDM GOH

1 Shooting team for part A and B will be according to their last IMT shoot results. As for the part Cs, they will decide among themselves.
Mdm also planned a shooting practise for the 12 individuals.
1 Nov 06, 0930hrs @sengkang CC, $50 a person by edusave.
2 The cadets are currently compiling the BUC results.
3 prof test for the unit is on the 26 Oct 06 @ KSTC
4 Bertram found a copy if a 2003 SRO, we can now follow the format of the previous SRO, which is more professional then the current format.
5 there will be a collaboration between MSHSNCC and SAJCGC on a mangrove cleaning project. this is for the initative section for our BUC
6 there might be a Make-up camp for the Part Bs. the specs are to submit the part Bs' vacation schedual to us by wednesday
7 NEW CO for MSHSNCC for 2007 will be Ms Toh
8 training days might be on wednesday instead of friday
9 the cadets will be split into cell groups to facilitate learning, as well as to compensate for the loss of training time.
10 the Unit will be glad to welcome HOs to help Barracudas.

with the specs
1 specs need to be more intelligent
2 need proper filing for furthur reference
3 CSM must deligate his job well
4 SRO to be out 1 wk in advance
5 we will be sending ppl for sailing course to win more points for seacom
6 need to reinforce discipline, and greet officers
7 LOG room need more attention. Security of belongings
8 DESKTOP set and Printer for LOG room( feel free to donate ur slow dsektops)
9 S4 will not be holding on to the keys during Hols
10 Platoon SGs are to do up apprasial forms for every cadets, something like a report card.

Review for AUC 2006

The AUC started off on the 13th of October 2006. The cadets and specs began the camp at 1500hrs. They started off with a briefing in the camp. Not long after the part Bs were suddenly called off to have a meeting with mdm goh. The specs told me that they would be back in 10 mins..but by the time they had returned..we were held behing schedule for almost half an hour. Luckily we told the specs to leave the 15 min allowance thing and we managed to speed up the bag check and fire safety briefing..did we quickly manage to get back on track. The part Bs up to now still do not know how to pitch these simple tents. Thats a point to take note. After these house keeping matters..they started off with their first activity which was the MOC. The part Bs were quite ok..but ut was noticed that the attitude of some part Cs were not acceptable. After the MOC..they went on to have their dinner which was field cooking. After their dinner..they had some talks on appointment by the csm and asm. Next..they proceeded to have bonding games while a few cadets were handpicked by the specs to attend the dark room. Dark room was an activity where the main objective was to find out their ''vocation'' for next year..as a contribution to the unit. The 5 choices given to them were sailing, kayaking, bends& hitches, orienteering and cutter pulling. And the other objective was to find out what they as cadets think..is the greatest reward for coming to training. All gave standard bullshit answers that would never even work. The dark room was also a mentak challenge to them..where they were put under mental pressure. This was because we found that our unit's training system focuses too much on physical strength and we tend to oversee the mental strength of the cadets..causing them to not being able to handle stress and pressure when they become specialists. After the dark room..they were all released to bathe and it was lights out for them. The clts and the specs den met at the mpc foe AAR on day 1. It lasted for about 1hour or so when they were dismissed and went to bathe. At about 4.25am, me and jason went to the sleeping ground of the part Bs. We noticed no one doing sentry duty. We questioned the specs on why they did no allocate sentry duty and it was to our surprised that they did..but the cadets ignored it. We went round 'stealing' their boots and shoes. 30/32 pairs of boots were stolen and 1 pt shoe. Me,jason and daryl went to sleep at about 4.45. I woke up for day 2 at 5.45 and went to the ops room to wake up the specs. This is totally unacceptable. The specs are supposed to be on the ground..always ready for the next activity..but they were all very blur and oni woke up at 5.55 while ronald woke up shortly after. They wemt down and conducted the waking up exercise..but it wasnt professional at all. They were briefed on how to conduct this exercise during theur trail at part a camp..but they commited the same mistakes again. I have decided that we should set a lights out time for the specs for the future camps..and a time that they must wake up. Failure to do so would result in the same treatment as they would do to the cadets. I went to wake jason and daryl up at abput 7 but they continued to slp. CLTS PLS TAKE NOTE. Jason and daryl woke up shortky after while the part Bs were having pt. I received a situation from the medic at about 7.30 that a part B was displaying signs of sickness. I asked the medic to check on his condition and see if he wanted to go home. I den told the medic to observe him till 8, and if his situation was not improving den we would send him home. But by 8 mdm goh and sir hee were already here and they quarantined johnathan mok and his camp mates. mdm goh den told me that she might break camp at 7 pm and to arrange all our important activities before 5. I quickly called a meeting shortly after with the specs and derived a new plan for activities up till 5. However..not long after while the part Bs were having theor prof test lecture..mdm goh said that johnathan mok was down with the stomach flu and we were to break camp immediately. We paid the 10% forfeit to nonya manis and me, victor and elton went to collect their lunch with mr ting. We returned with the packed lunch and the rest of the company did their area cleanin and dismissal. After all the cadets were dismissed we had a long aar with mdm goh and the camp ended only then for the specs and clts. The specs were also instructed to clean up whatever 'mess' they created before they leave.

Just a point to note. Could the clts kindly think of the big picture and encourage all cadets/specs to obey the final instructions from the highier authority, rather than encouraging defiance towards final instructions given using their rank.

proposal for annual camp

Ok. I've received the proposal for the annual camp. But oni for the part As. The part Bs one not yet. There are some problems with the proposal. Firstly, they merged everything into the time table. All their explanations are inside..making look messy and hard to comprehend. However, lets not pick on theur format. I still dont understand. i will forward the 50th and 49th clt a copy of it and i urge ur to attend to it and give ur feedback asap as there is not much time left. The safety measures are also just not enough. Ya..so jus look into it asap la. Thanks
