Review for 5th POP

Todae was the 5th passing out parade for the barracudas. The day actually started at 1400hrs where the part Cs were told to gather. They were there early because they wanted to apply for supernumerary. i was told that LTA Goh wanted oni the top 3 from the interview to go attend. the top 3 were CPL Marcus, CPL Joel, 2SG Ming Hui. However they felt that 2SG Jeremy was also not bad. Only reservations was that he would be too playful in HQ. The interview was conducted by the senior specs and evan kong. I was there to oversee and advise. At 1530hrs where all the part As and Bs arrived, uniform check was conducted and they went down to the parade square for rehearsals. The rehearsal was abit bullshit because the part D was playing..nevertheless this is expected. This was their day so i did not want to spoil it. But still the rehearsals went smoothly. At 1700hrs, the whole company went to the ava theatre for the special programme..which was a video playback on the part Ds journey throughout the 4 years. Followed by a speech by LTA Goh and it was then that we found out that LTC Hee was also leaving teaching and the corps. So he also gave a speech. At 1730hrs, they left the ava theatre and we clts came to attention and saluted him to thank him for his effort, guidiance and leadership for the past 8 years. They went down for the final rehearsal on the POP and den came the actual parade. The officer for this parade was supposed to be our CO as usual, but this year it was LTC Hee. Cool huh. We presented the clts token of appreciation to the 3 outstanding cadets along with their polo-Ts thru LTC Hee. After the 'bersu-rai' they threw their berets and water bombs and had the usual fun and nonsense stuff just like the past 4 years since our pioneer batch seniors passed out. But it was shortlived this year as everything came to an end after..5 mins? LTA Goh did not allow it to carry on. Me and jason was there to supervise the clean up and then we went back to the ncc room. Ronald was already there and he seemed pissed over something. I shall not go further into details. But i wan to remind all clts that..no matter how pissed or angry we are over something or anything..we should never ever throw our temper in front of the cadets, or vent our anger on them. You may think that they will understand ur feelings or wadever..even if they really do, it does not reflect well about the clts. It makes us look bad. Whatever the case, it is over..i think the clt involved should reflect seriously on what happened after POP and how he could have handled it. Nevertheless we other clts should also take note of such behaviour and refrain from it. So lets put it this way..in future whatever actions we do, please consider our image as clts and also remember the word 'PROFESSIONALISM' as what Jian Cheng said. All that has been said and done is past. What we should do now is to reflect. Let this be the end of today's incident and no one shall ever bring it up again. Thats all for now.

psps: ronald, the orienteering review.. sea com review also. u or daryl, one of ur mus do it. thanks.

Also all the best to u guys for ur promos and a levels whichever it is. And the 3 recipients of the token of appreciation messaged me to thanks us and they said that they really loved the gift..haha. Although it was ex..shall we make it again for the next batch?? something to consider...

take note

Hey guys!! Just to inform ur that the POP date is finalised. No change. Its on the 23rd of Sept 2006, meaning tomorrow. 1430hrs will be the cadets reporting time. The CSM did not tell me wad time the parade will commence because the SRO WAS NOT SENT TO ME!! so something will happen to the specs tomorrow. All i know is that the parade will end latest by 7pm tomorrow. All clts please leave a comment if u are going. Jason please remenber to bring the gifts..we spent a bomb on it so dun tell me u forget or u lost it..haha. Thats all for now

new system of doing things for clt

Eh..let me start off by saying that as u can see the senior clts have been starting to be inactive due to their A levels. So we 50th intake is like the ones who are handling more of the unit's stuff already. I have to admit that we are quite disorganised at the moment u noe.. so in this post i will like to implement a system for us 50th intake to follow.
Firstly, i have requested that the SRO be sent to me latest by thursdays. So we clts will know wad the trg is all about. As soon as i receive the details, i will post it up on this blog. So u all must check this blog every few days, if not at the very least every thursday. This is because i dun wan us to keep asking the CSM for the details as individuals. This will make us look very disorganised. disunited and unprofessional as clts. And the SRO that i have requested from them is a detailed one. So if there is anything u are not sure please look for me first and den if i also duno den i will ask the CSM. If not please leva a comment on the blog and den state that u are going to clarify this problem. If not u and i might be asking the specs for the same question. This again makes us look bad.
Secondly, in the event that the SRO is not up, it would mean that i have not received it from the CSM. From now onwards in this event, we will approach the specs and deal with them the hard way cos they are already senior specs or specs and we have given them more than ample time to settle down already. If i do not have the time to post it, i will pass the SRO to jason or ronald and they will do up the entry.
Thirdly, can i request that we 50th clts meet up once a month to synchronise our thoughts and any other matters pertaining to the unit so that we are more aware what each of us is going to do. This will commence once u guys promos are over? Daryl u are welcomed anytime.
This is all i have to say at the moment. Can we discuss other matters in detail when we meet up? Cos its not very appropriate to use this blog for such matters. And i think meeting up will be more productive than this blog. So thats all for now and if ur have any other suggestions on my above points where u think we could do it better.. please leave a comment. Thanks.

training review for the 15th Sept 2006

Yesterday's training was quite disorganised because of the clash with the parent teacher meeting. Before the training started i had a small discussion on some minor issues with the newly promoted senior specs. Colours started at 15oohrs and i was told that the duty officer for the day was Miss Toh Ling Ling, however she was nowhere to be seen. We sent a spec to go look for her but she was seeing a parent. Thus I conducted the Colours. The training was supposed to start off with total defence lecture but LTA Goh was not free? So we started off with drills for the part As and Bs. Due to the wet weather we carried out the drills under shelter. The part As were doing stationary drill and they jus started off with marching on the spot. Progress was quite ok. The part Bs were revising their marching and learning the 'keblakan-pu-sing' and 'maju' command on the march. Progress was also quite satisfactory. Cadets whom jus passed out from SSC informed us on the new changes on the do's and dont's during drill. This was a little bit ironic as we used to do that when we were part As and Bs. Also, it was what we taught them when we were specs. Next was PT. This part was the most disorganised. The part As did not have pt kit so did in no.4. While the part Bs did it in pt kit. The pt session was conducted by evan kong. This was because the sea com team which included the PTIs had a meeting with LTA Goh. Another group was also missing. Thus the PT session consisted of at the most 20-25 cadets? I was repeatingly asking the specs on where are the rest of the cadets..but all they could tell me was answers like ' Sir, i dont know' and ' Sir, one group is there, another is there' when i had totally no idea where is the 'there'. Anyway after the PT was supposed to be a half hour games session. But there wasn't full strength so evan played the 'folding the smart 4' game with them. I was not for it but till i realised that they really needed a long time to fold their smart 4. Even so, they folded like they are MSG? Not up to standard. So i allowed the 'exercise' to carry on. 1800hrs was the scheduled dismissal time. Miss Toh was here this time. However, the CSM and ronald was nowhere to be found. The next highiest appointment holder was the part C ASM. He was also blur blur and was like waiting for the CSM to appear? and Miss Toh was like there waiting and they were still giving out the NCC donation cards. I was like hurrying the part C ASM to take over and asking the rest of the platoon sergeants to cut what they are doing and to get the dismissal parade over first. All this took 5 mins for them to settle down and the part C ASM had no idea of the company strength or of any sort. So i handed him my copy of the attendance list to him so that he could conduct the parade. The ASM's drill when reporting was not up to standard even after attending SSC. i dont know why and i have spoken to him. He is also aware of his mistake. This could be due to inexperience. And sorry. i know i am supposed to conduct the AAR but i was in a rush yesterday and had no time. I jus had a few words with the part C ASM on the proposal for the company camp. ( he was not even aware of this camp). the deadline i set them is the end of sept latest. I was also told that there would be a orienteering excersise for the company at Pasir Ris Park on the 16th. Which is today. ronald...volunteered? to go down. AND RONALD WHEN U SEE THIS PLEASE DO THE REVIEW FOR THE ORIENTEERING EXERCISE. Thank you. Thats all for now.
